Evaluating Information

Evaluating Information in the Age of Fake News and Alternative Facts
Lunch and Learn Program
Tuesday, April 17, 2018, 12:00 noon to 1 p.m.
Hyvee (on Conley Road), second floor Community meeting room

Misinformation is as old as the truth. While traditional forms of media were once able to act as gatekeepers for much of the information that reached the public, today the proliferation of social media and other online sources has nearly overwhelmed us with so-called “facts.” In this presentation, you will learn how to become a more savvy consumer of news and information, as well as the motivations behind the purveyors of fake news.

Jake Parsons, a librarian at Columbia Public Library, will be the presenter.

Although no lunch is provided, you may purchase lunch in the store or bring your own. This program is free and open to the public.
