LWV and the federal role in public education

The LWV participates in organized studies of issues so that we can decide, based on facts, where we stand and what policies we will advocate for and against.  If the issue under study is national, LWV’s throughout the U.S. participate in it.

This summer and fall, LWV-CBC is participating in a national LWV study on the federal role in public education (standards, funding, equity issues, etc.).  All League members are invited to attend the first Study Committee meeting, which is Monday June 27 at 2:30 at the Columbia Public Library.   At this early stage, we are taking in information.  The focus of this meeting will be on equity issues.  Our June Voter contains an article introducing this issue.
