You must be registered to vote.

If you are not currently registered to vote, the deadline to register is by the fourth Wednesday prior to the next election.

As of June 1, 2017, when you go to vote, there are new rules in place as to what forms of identification can be used.  (And assistance in obtaining a state ID, if you don’t have one).
