Advocacy Day and RALLY AT THE CAPITOL to protect the Ballot Initiative
April 28, 2021
10:00 a.m.

Members of LWVMO and several other organizations are rallying at the Capitol on Wednesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. (and virtually) to advocate against legislation that would reduce opportunities for citizens to have impact on state government.

·         Bills already passed the House and are on the calendar to be debated in the Senate are HB 333 and HJR 20.  These would: Require a ⅔ supermajority to pass ballot initiatives, instead of a simple majority

·         Shorten the period of time to gather signatures

·         Increase the required signatures by hundreds of thousands

·         Enact other measures that would render the initiative process nearly unusable

Join MO Voter Protection Coalition, LWV, Show Me Integrity, PROMO, ACLU, Empower MO, NORML, Planned Parenthood, and others for this Wednesday’s Rally. Details at this link: https://actionnetwork.org/events/protect-the-ballot-initiative-rally-advocacy-day
