According to historians, preparing citizens was a central purpose of the earliest American public schools. Our society and the education system have become more complex since then. But isn’t citizenship education still important? This panel discussion will look at how public schools today prepare students as citizens and voters, the state of civic education, and directions for the future in a digital era.
The forum is cosponsored by the LWV, Daniel Boone Regional Library, Council for the Humanities and AAUW-Columbia Branch.
