General Election Forums
The League of Women Voters of Columbia-Boone County will present two general election forums for the November 4th ballot.
Candidate Forum
Tuesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. (refreshments at 6:00 p.m.) at the Columbia Public Library – Friends Room.
This forum will feature candidates in the November general election in races for Boone County Recorder of Deeds and Boone County Collector; Boone County Presiding Commissioner; Division 5 Associate Judge; and State Representatives for the 44th and 47th District Representative. Candidates running unopposed will not be included in the forum.
David Lile from KFRU will moderate this forum and KFRU will broadcast the event live.
Ballot Issues Forum
Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. (refreshments at 6:00 p.m.) at the Columbia Public Library – Friends Room.
This forum will focus on the four proposed State Constitutional amendments (Early Voting; Teacher Evaluation; Governor’s Budget; Admitting Prior Criminal Acts in Court); and Columbia Prop 1 (Property Tax for Safety) and Prop 2 (Increase Developer’s Fees). The League is arranging for pro and con speakers on all issues; if speakers are not available, the League will provide pro and con information.
Renee Hulshof will moderate the ballot issue forum and KFRU will re-broadcast the event afterward.
Both events, which are free and open to the public, are cosponsored by the Columbia Public Library.
